It would be very useful to have sidecars for SACD.ISO, in the way that Foobar2000 have it (Audirvana following the same root).
In Foobar, just update tags from a SACD.ISO and a sidecar like the one in attachment is generated.
PLEASE... it would be very useful for anyone who wants to keep their PSP3 RIPs in ISO format.
I still buy as much SACD from ebay as I can, and I have now 723. and growing.
I wrote a C# app for batch convert all the ISOs to DSF files, but sometimes sacd_extract.exe fail to extract the last track\tracks (just not to mention the "plop" "click" thing that still remains in some dacs (even after the last release).
With Foobar is so simple (and you just have to keep the sidecar with the ISO, even if you change PC or have to reinstal anything, or simple want to save it in another place running Foobar.
Just for the record ;) my main player is JRiver since early versions, but I use to run Foobar for simple tasks like checking DR Range, TAG with MusicBrainz and File Convertion.
Hope it will be considered and I think I am not alone.
Many thanks

We meant to include SACD ISO too. I just did not realize this media type needed some special treatment. Once I figure out what needs to be done, it will be implemented.

Great news.
Many, many thanks.

I do not have a SACD ISO file to test with. So I created an ISO file from a DVD folder. I don't know if this is different from a SACD ISO. This file was imported into MC as a video. Sidecar is written to hard drive just fine. I changed Media Type to "Data" and it still works fine too. Changing it to Audio did not make any difference either. I don't see what makes SACD so special.

Still not possible to have sidecar for SACD ISO files.
SACD ISO files are imported by JRiver as audio files and you can see them in documents too. But not in video.
I can send you a SACD ISO file for test purposes if you need it.

Someone sent me a sample file already. Thanks.

Build 19 is out.

Looks like this is working as expected now, thanks.
EDIT: Sidecars are being written but they don't appear to be used by Media Center if I copy an ISO and its sidecar to another directory, then import it as a new album.
I get the tags embedded in the ISO, not the sidecar.
Deleting or moving the files does not delete/move the sidecar either (applies to all sidecar types added via MC24).

Thanks for testing.

I was so sure it worked. Now I see it does not work once the sidecar is moved to a different folder.

Confirmed. I will investigate.

Brilliant. This has been a request of mine for a long time!
Does this mean that ISOs can be moved with R,M & C without losing the metadata?
Happy to test when the feature is ready. I have > 1'000 SACD ISOs in my library.

I just found out that Rename. Move, & Copy does not work properly for SACD ISO files. I will need to fix it.

I am very happy to finally see sidecar support for SACD ISOs beeing added.
Are the foobar2000 XML files supported or do i have to make new sidecar files in JRiver?
(I hope the support of the foobar xml files is easy enough tho!) :)
Also - is this gonna be in the MAC version too anytime soon?
Great work anyway - keep goin!

It might be a good idea to post some of the foobar2000 XML files. It'd make sense to at least support those.
-
Foobar XML file is already supported.

Foobar XML file is already supported.
OK, it is not much of a support. Only the Title and Album Artist fields are read from it.
-
Hmm i did not know that foobar xml is already supported and i can also not confirm it working. Especially the SACD ISOs often miss title and artist which lets them end up in "unassigned" and i would have to manually edit em in JR, but i don't do that since i had to redo it after moving the file location (everything else i could adjust but SACD only played after i let JR re-import em and then i lost all edited tags).
I just now imported an SACD which has a fully edited foobar2000 XML file along with the iso and JR did not import anything from the XML.
(MAC v24.0.16)
If i can help in any way by not only complaing let me know :)

This will be in an upcoming build:
NEW: MC will open and parse Foobar sidecar files for SACD ISO files if JRiver sidecar files are not present.

Whoo! Thank you very much!

Thank you very much for implementing that feature into the latest MAC build!
When i add a new file/folder it seems to work perfectly.
Now here is me question: how do i tell JRiver to add the foobar xml files that are already there? I tried to update some but JRiver does not recognise them unless i remove the folder containing the iso/xml and add it again.
Can i tell JRiver to recognise the xml files somehow?

Delete JRiver sidecar and do an "Update Library (from tags)".

Thank you but i seem not to understand what to do.
Where could i find the jriver sidecar file? There is none along the files (and where the foobar xml is).
Also i want to update "all folders" to find all the xml files that are there not only one specific one.
Is that what you meant too?
-
JRiver Sidecar file is next to the ISO file itself. It is named "<media file name>_<ext>_JRSidecar.xml", for example, "Your ISO Album_iso_JRSidecar.xml".
If you can not find the JRiver sidecar, then you should just be able to do an "Update Library (from tags)" to import data from the foobar sidecar.
JRiver Media Center automatically loads Foobar sidecar on importing or updating, if JRiver sidecar is not there.

Hello, I too have several audio *.iso and *.dff files that do not store metadata. After I have entered the metadata into JRiver manually, is there a way within JRiver that I can generate the sidecar xml file and save it with the iso or dff files? Thank You
-
MC's Options > General > Importing & Tagging and set the drop down for sidecars there to Save in sidecars if internal tagging is not supported. Then click the second dropdown below the first and set Create external sidecar files for media type: to Audio (or any others you may need). Then to test find a SACD ISO or DFF files in your library and either use Update library from tags if you want to create the sidecar for the ISOs or DFF files then manually add metadata or Update tags (from library) if you already have metadata in the JRiver library for the ISOs or DFF files.

Thank You, I appreciate it!
