Title: Request - Preset for "Fill Properties From Filename"
Post by: jacobacci on April 26, 2018, 10:01:27 am
MC24 looks great, thanks a lot.
The "Rename, Move & Copy Files" windows has a preset button that allows to save a given set of parameters for later use.
Would it be possible to add such a button to the "Fill Properties From Filename" window?
Thanks a lot

Fill Properties From Filename does offer presets.

Click on the little arrow at the left of the template arguments (directories and filename) and you'll see Preset and Recent.

I wrote up a very nice set of documentation for this tool a couple of years back. Check it out:

Brilliant, thanks a lot.
Now the only suggestion re. this that I could possibly have would concern the consistency of the UI between F6 and F12
 :)

Well, Fill Properties from Filename (F12) doesn't do the same thing. They're similar, but Fill Properties from Filename handles essentially the reverse of the Rename, Move, and Copy Files dialog. It is a different UI because it doesn't have to do anywhere near the same number of things.

There isn't a great article on the Wiki for that tool, but I do explain it pretty thoroughly here:

Sorry glynor, my comment re UI was too general. I am aware that F6 and F12 do different things. The comment only referred to the way how to access the presets functionality. In F6 and F12 it can be accessed via the magnifying glass to the left of the input field. In F6 there is an additional, separate Preset button.
The magnifying glass to the left of the input field had eluded me in the past. Great feature, thanks a lot.
