Why I‘ m getting ape when I want cda/wav.
-
Set the encoding to whatever you want. It's an option. WAV, not CDA. FLAC would be better.
-
It's also worth pointing out that .cda files aren't actually audio data files. In reality .cda files act more-or-less like shortcuts. You'll likely want to rip discs into a lossless format, e.g. WAV, FLAC, APE, etc.
Since APE is a lossless format, you can simply convert them to WAV if desired. Though the benefit of using APE or FLAC versus (uncompressed) WAV files is the compression used to reduce file space. That and APE/FLAC has much better support for metadata over WAV. Ultimately if the end-goal is to get 1-to-1 perfect copies of the data on CDs, ripping CDs (using secure ripping is recommended) to WAV/FLAC/APE/etc. do accomplish that.
