Please read VERY carefully.
This is a BETA version of 9.1. If you expect things to work, please download the latest 9.0 build from this thread:
http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=di splay;num=1054751628
but if you're patient and willing to help us work out some of the bugs, you can download 9.1 here (recommended for experts only):
Backup your library before installing
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter91196.exe
Please report any 9.1 problems in this thread. Keep a list of problems and if they aren't fixed in the next build, please post the list again.

Not downlaoded properly yet but just wondering if Months can now be sorted properly in the tree any chance that this could be developed to allow Albums to be sorted chronologically?

Oh Goodie... Another new one ;D
-
Nothing major to report but some nice bug fixes in there...
Couple of little things:
1. Scrollbars in the format pane in properties do not skin
2. When adding a new item to the toolbars it always gets added above the current item. If trying to build a toolbar structure from scratch and probably when adding to existing to it would make more sense if it appeared below.

Hey guys...
Just got to say it...

You may have a bad file. Disable any download manager you use. Star downloader blows up, for example.

Still having the problem in 196 with VST instruments as I described in the last version's thread:
There seems to be an issue with the DirectX plugin adapter. From what I can tell, it's scanning for audio plugins and getting stumped when it finds the various vst software synthesizers located in my vstplugins directory. This happens any time I hit play and results in a Media Core crash shortly after receiving a few of the following errors:
"The Following VST plug-in failed to load: C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\(various vst instruments.dll)"
The crash also usually happens when I try to access the DSP studio. The few times I've successfully gotten that to open, I've made sure that the DirectX plugin adapter is disabled.

>> NEW: Added the ability to customize both toolbars
>> from the same customization window.
The pulldown for selecting between top and bottom could be a little bit higher ;D
>> NEW: Added an ability to include a mute button to a mega-me skin.
Very nice - sometimes the small things make the difference... :D

9. Fixed: Search bar did not work in Playing Now.
10. Changed: Search -> Enter on search with no results doesn't do anything now.
Are you absolutely sure about that? An empty search for me is still clearing the entire list with the exception the currently playing and/or selected track.
Also, I can no longer seem to manually type in a search string--I have to use the wizard for the proper filter string to be executed. (This bug showed up in the last build [195].)

Omni,
This problem and the problem above about search strings are both odd. I don't see them. You could try rebooting and or reinstalling. Something isn't right with the install. Please start a new thread if you want to discuss it.

This happens on my computer as well, but only sometimes when I press stop. Mouse clicks aren't responsive for a couple seconds, and then they'll start working again.
BUG - when i try to permanently delete songs by clicking on the artist or album in the tree without clicking on the songs themselves, media center crashes. I've duplicated this between 195 and 196.

Okay, the thread is entitled: Oddities in 9.1.196 beta (Please Verify) (http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=display;num=1055304968)
By the way, the "pauses" I reported are not pauses, but lost mouse events. (refer to the above linked thread (http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=display;num=1055304968) for full details)

When Startup option is set to "Display Window Only", and an audio file is opened, Media Center's Display is messed up. Clicking anywhere below the navigation bar then brings up the "Playing Now" view.
Video files do not have this problem.
BTW, it would be nice if one could, at a minimum, set a default startup view independently for audio and video. I like videos to just show in the "Windowed" mode and audio in MEGA-ME.
Keep up the excellent work!

how about a litte improvement in the media library:
it would be great if it would be possible to add a description of a movie wich is shown in hairstyles movie section.

More of a request than a bug:
Ive been waving my mouse around randomly clicking.
Ive got a top toolbar and nothing (just the status bar) at the bottom. I like the new toolbar customise dialog, but Ive found that getting to it can be confusing.
The customise toolbar doesnt appear when you have buttons at the bottom. You have to right click the top toolbar and then add something to the bottom one.
Plus theres no right click menu, the dialog just appears. More intuitive to me would be a right click menu for the top toolbar and bottom status bar/toolbar area, with Show top toolbar/Show bottom toolbar/Customise toolbar as items. The first two would be 'standard checkbox toolbar items' (not sure what they are called). If this is not a good idea, Id like to see access to the customise toolbar dialog from the standard menus. As it is, its just too difficult to figure out what to do, and burying the customisation in the options is too hard to find for me at least.

Bugs
1. Visualization mode normal or less: character are not readable.
2. Volume slider will not respond to cntr - command if volume is above 84% (same as in 9.0.x)
3. The Handheld plugin still not accepts volume name changes
4. CD’s created with MJ can't be played on a computer (buffering..), not with MJ or any other player (windows or linux), it was playable on an ordinary player! Analyzing the CD shows that always the first 2 blocks of the wavefile are bad. Skipping those will result in playing the CD. I created an AudioCD on the same hardware using RealOne without any problems!!! DataCDs will work OK.
5. The 'now playing' info randomly shows 'title (artist) or title (album)' info
6. Interrupted streaming files causing MC to lock up (ASIO interface)
Wishes
1. All units should be expressed in db, since mixing linear and nonlinear units like db and % is very difficult to compare and db is the (professional) standard (eg. Peak level always appears as %)
2. Volume slider should move in increments by db instead of %
3. If continuous mode and reshuffle is selected, I would like to have a reshufflecommand thrown in after the last song starts, to prevent MJ to play the same sequence over and over again.
4. During xfer to a device I would like have a ability to apply the replay gain value permanent to that file, since most devices don't support it.

Little bug I noticed yesterday - neither the animation or the progress bar update in the Upload to FTP dialog. Makes it difficult to know how close you are...

Vermaje,
Try uninstalling DSP - DirectX Host plug-in (you can do it from Plug-in Manager). Let us know if that helps.
