You guys fixed the last issue fast.  MC24 64 bit
Ok in MC18 video worked all the way through MC22.  I deleted MC18 when I installed MC23 and it stopped playing or supporting video. 
GTX1080 founders edition
i7, all drivers up to date.  4k with HDR on or off does not matter.  Kodi, VLC, Windows media player all work.  The usual files I play are .MKV.

No call to install a codec etc.  Just Mode: video not supported

Do you have "view > audio only mode" enabled?
Alternatively, check that "tools > options > general > features > video support" is enabled.
