Title: How does MC actually implement streaming via DLNA?

I have another post about problems with MC 24 streaming AAC to my Oppo BDP -103 via DLNA.  While trying to half-split the problem, I came up with several general questions about MC and streaming...

• does MC transcode the data from the remote music site, and pass it to the Oppo player?
• does MC pass the streaming url to the Oppo, and the Oppo communicates directly with the remote music site? 
  
  
  • is there some documentation that explains how to correctly enable streaming which comprehends the music stream format?
