Title: WinTV-USB2-FM analog cable (Access denied error)
Post by: BryanC on June 01, 2018, 10:13:41 am
I am trying to get my Hauppauge WinTV-USB2-FM analog stick to tune analog cable stations, but it won't show up as a supported device in MC. It's present under "Manage Devices" but when I click configure, I get a "Critical error message. Cannot load video capture filter. Access is denied."

Any ideas on how to remedy this? My digital USB sticks were working fine for Clear QAM but most of the basic cable in the area I just moved to is NTSC.

Log attached.

Do you need to install a driver?  Does it work with Hauppauge software?

The failure occurred at a very early stage.  MC could not instantiate your video capture device.

I would try downloading and installing the most updated driver from the manufacturer.

I figured it out after trying to install WinTV. The WinTV installer prompted me that the Windows 10 April Update now requires you to go into the Windows settings and allow apps access to your cameras (which apparently applies to TV tuners). Brilliant Microsoft, brilliant.
