Title: Album Type [auto]
Post by: pilotbum on June 08, 2003, 12:06:44 pm
How does Media Center decide what is a complete vs. and incomplete album? For Example, I hae many albums that are complete (both in the Single Artist and Multiple Artist categories) that are being classified as incomplete. For example:

there are Multiple artist (complete) albums being classified as Single artist incomplete

and

Single artist (complete) albums in the single artist (incomplete) category.

All tracks fields are completely filled out ie, artist, album, title, track number etc with all the information downloaded from the YADB database. I've tried dragging and dropping them to their proper location and no luck. Any ideas?

Do they all share an album folder?  Albums need to be stored in one folder to be classified as complete.  They need to have consistent track #'s.  I think there are a few other things too

Yes, they all share an album folder (that I can tell, the listing of the album is complete just in the wrong spot i.e., the incomplete list) they also all have conscutive track numbers.

Try checking the tags on these rogue incomplete albums. If all the files for each album are in their own specific album dir, browse to one of them using MC's explorer tree. Now check the tags on each file carefully.
For example, if the album field for, say, two files in "the beatles - White Album" were filled "White Album." and all the others were "White Album" then MC would display 2 incomplete albums.

I think it can also be fooled by capitalisation errors and rogue spaces e.g. White Album and white album are different and so are "White Album" and "White Album "

What would be REALLY nice is if this field was set automatically as it is now but then if it was set as a list type field that we could then edit ourselves and change albums from complete to incomplete or visa versa manually.

LOL Then it would no longer be Auto Album type ;D

The reason it is not editable is becasue it is a calculated field.  It doesn't actually reside in a field in the database it is calculated from data that does.  I think... :)

When I get this problem I highlight all the files in the album and rename their album properties to one name.  Upper and lower case, 1 for l, and spaces all create "non-albums", by editing and changing them together and then doing a properties to files change its fixed.
