Title: CD Player Audio Distorted (SOLVED)
Post by: bmcm on June 18, 2018, 02:25:14 pm
I am running the latest version of Windows 10 Pro. When I play an audio CD using Direct Sound, the sound is obviously distorted. I have tried all of the available Direct Sound options with no improvement. I don't play audio CD's very often, so I am not sure when this problem started. As a test, I downloaded the VLC media player. When I play the audio CD using VLC, the sound quality is excellent. I am now using JRiver as my primary media player so I need to solve this problem but not sure where to begin. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are MC's DSP settings off?

Does WASAPI sound OK?

DSP settings are off. When I switched from Direct Sound to WASAPI, the distortion went away. Sound quality is now excellent.
I just read the wiki description of WASAPI. All is now clear to me.

Thanks for the help.  :)

You're welcome.  It's still strange that DirectSound doesn't work right.
