Title: MC9 Library on server - how connect mult. MC9's
Post by: mjcumming on June 06, 2003, 05:24:34 am
I have my MP3 collection on a central fileserver.  I am also storing the MC9 library on this server with coverart etc.

What is the best way to connect to this library?  Using UNC or mapped networkdrive?  MC9's library dialogue also suggests using an IP address and port.  I am guessing this requires MC9 to be running on the server then.

Using UNC or mapped drive seems to work ok but there seems to be problems when one machine updates the library and other machines are connected.  Can more then one machine have the library open safely?

Did you try Media Server?  It's under tools in MC.

Jim,

I have looked at running the server.

My impression is that the server will share files in the library but the clients cannot update/add/change the database...

And,

the server must be running on the fileserver - not really a big deal.
