I just downloaded/installed MC 9 on top of MJ 8.
The install hung up while updating the database. I had to end the task in Windows Task Manager.
I continued the install--then imported the files from my HD. But it appears that MC 9 has captured old settings from MJ 8. It first showed an old now invalid path before I imported the files.
Now it's showing old ratings data for example and not showing recent changes I made in MJ 8 to many fields.
When I try to update the database the program hangs with nothing happening on the CPU--only 17 MB RAM in use by MC 9.
I'd like to recapture what was the current MJ 8 data and settings.
I did backup the library before I installed MJ 9.
How should I proceed from here?
Here's my system:

Looks like I solved my own problem for now.
I ran "restore" in MC 9 on the backup file of the library. Sure glad I read "help" for once and even followed the advice.
It picked up all the current data from MJ 8. So I'm a happy listener once again. I was dreading having to manually revise some 3500 files.
MC 9 looks cool though I'm glad I'm not a total "noob." This thing is beginning to look like a Microsoft program. Features on top of features on top of optional features on top of automatic features that override semiautomatic features that supercede manual features, etc.
Whew! It's gonna be a while till I'm back to where I was with MJ 8. But in this case it looks like it may be worth the ride.
Congratulations to the J River team for a fabulous program that looks even better than before.
