Title: The media type 'video' is not supported
Post by: rsg on June 27, 2018, 03:46:17 pm
I have been using MC 24 for music only. Now I am trying to play a video, and I get this message: "The media type 'video' is not supported." How can I fix this? (Note: the video shows up in MC, but I get the message when I press 'play.')

What kind of video?

How are you trying to play it?

DVD in a USB-powered external DVD/CD player. When it shows up in MC, I just press play...not trying to rip it.

I'm sorry, but I don't know.

OK, I guess I still have the option of playing it with Windows. Thanks anyway.

If you go to tools>options does the category video appear at the bottom of the list? If not go to tools>options>general>features and make sure that video support is checked. You will need to restart MC for any new features to show up.

Video Support was unchecked! So, I checked it and restarted. Now the video shows up in the MC24 window, but I get the message 'The volume labelled "Movie Title" could not be found. Plays on Windows though.

If you go to tools>options.CD,DVD & BD, show the options for autoplay for DVD which probably has ask everytime next to it. Select let windows handle it. Hopefully that will work.

Yes, thanks, already tried that. It seems easier in this case not to open MC at all, and literally 'let Windows handle it'

You might need to set MC as the default video player in the windows>settings>apps>default apps. (Worth a try) I just plugged in a usb cd drive and MC played it without a problem - so there is a setting somewhere that needs ticking!

Ha! That's it! Perfect. The movie is now playing! Thank you so much.
