I love this program and I'm planning on purchasing it if I can get this one problem resolved, I've imported all of my media files and now I'm going through and updating the fields (Album, Artist, Genre) if needed, I'm having problems with the program freezing for about 5 minutes almost everytime I attempt to do this. Sometimes I will be able to succesfully do about 5 or 6 files before it freezes and sometimes it does it every time, this is extremely frustrtating seeing as how I have a couple thousand files I'd like to do and I can't wait 5 minutes each time I want to make a change. I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get, I really do enjoy all the other aspects of this software and If I can get this one little problem resolved then I'd be more than happy to purchase it.
My System Info is:

That could be an OS problem. I don't think it is a bug in MC.
Do you have any mapped network drives that connect to machines that are off?
Check here for posts about similar problems. There was one from 3 or 4 days ago that turned out to be Norton Antivirus.

Well i never said anything but i was having problems with MC9 freezing and spent the last two days playing with reinstalling everything (still not done)
It seems the freezing within MC9 is now gone.
-
Any ideas what it was?
There was at least one Microsoft patch from several weeks ago that they pulled because it was creating problems. Slowdown was one symptom. Internet connection problems was another (different patch, I think).

No, I had other problems
Tring to just reinstall Windows XP Pro over the old version did not help i had to go from a clean install.
The only reason i really cared is because i am trying to find a way to set up an FTP or HTML server but install of some items and activation of some items in windows would not work. I am not sure if that means that it is a web\internet issue or not but thats where i was hitting a wall.
My problem may or maynot not be related to others who knows.

I still can't figure this problem out and its really starting to frustrate me, I love all the features the software offers and I would really really love to get it up and running correctly but I just can't. Its so strange, it just freezes at random times, I'll be renaming a file and it will just for no reason freeze when I'm halfway through a word, It usually seems to happen when I'm editing the playlist or tag info but it has also happened at other times. I don't want to, but it looks like I might have to go back and just use Media Jukebox (which ran fine) instead, hopefully I can somehow get this resolved.

This may not be an MC issue. It could be a Windows problem. There is at least one Windows update that was pulled by Microsoft because of speed issues with "some" programs.
Try a google search and try the MS website.
Edit -- just noticed I said something similar above. Did you check?
There was also a similar problem with Norton AntiVirus reported last week here. Try a search for it.
-
Thanks for replying, yeah I did check that Windows update and that doesn't seem to be the problem; I'm also running an anti-virus software other than Norton so that couldn't be causing it either. This is obviously a pretty Isolated problem, I do appreciate the help and I guess I'll just try to find what it is thats causing this.

Microsoft had another delay problem several years ago with Office. It was auto-indexing all files frequently.
Mapped network drives to machines that are off can cause similar problems.
The point is that there are all kinds of things that can go wrong and only some of them could be related to MC.
I suggest simplifying your system, killing all processes you can. Get rid of all running software that isn't essential. Disconnect from the Internet, kill your virus checker, firewall, etc.
There is a newer build a thread here. It's worth a try. 9.0.180.
