Title: My Whole MC9 Library is gone...
Post by: Chrispod on June 06, 2003, 07:46:21 pm
As if I needed one more problem, my entire library of imported to MC9 music is gone.  I had it opened, and had looked at some things, then imported some songs, which I do by ckicking play in MY MUSIC.  The playlist I had made is there, and named, but of course, empty.

I have 12 days left on the free trial...

This just happened tonight Friday between about 9 11:30 p.m. EST.

Any ideas, and does this mean  three weeks of tagging work is gone also?   UGHHHH.....

I don't think so.

Not sure what happened but

Re-Import The Files

===========================

the other thing i can think of is make sure in the library manager that the default library or the library you were working on is selected.

I know it is 20-20 hindsight BUT,
Suggestion:  BackUp your Library!
Click on
<  'FILE' --> 'LIBRARY' --> 'BACKUP LIBRARY'  >

maybe true.

but as in many programs they have an Auto backup setting.

save every 15 mins when typing text docs, every day when doing drive backups etc....

I am not sure if you can use the scheduler to create backups. I think i will look into it when i get home.

To Chrispod:

Although I have no idea what might have happened to your library, reimporting probably won't be too bad. If you're using MP3s, the database information is stored inside the individual files in ID3 tags, so the only data you'll lose are things like playlists, cover art associations, ratings, and custom fields. Name, artist, album, genre, and quite a few others will still be there. This (well, something remotely similar) happened to me a few months ago when I had 20GB of music and recovering wasn't too bad.

Good luck!
