Title: Issue when exporting custom views to JRemote
Post by: stanzani on July 13, 2018, 07:14:15 am
Hello
I am experiencing a strange issue: I have a number of custom view I creted (option ... Customize view) which I want to make visible to JRemode. I also removed some obsolete views.
What happen is that the new view in JRemote returns an empty list while the same view running on the server is working

BTW I cannot remember how to locate the option where I can make a certain view visible to a remote.
Is there a way to 'clean' JRemote from the 'obsolete' views?
thanks for the help

I think you're looking for Tools -> Options -> Media Network -> Advanced -> Customize Views.

I've been trying the same thing, with a different problem. Nothing I do there shows up on the remote.

Yes, set JRemote options in  Tools > Options > Media Network > Advanced > Customised Views for JRemote.

And then restart MC and JRemote.

And then restart MC and JRemote.

Oh, I think that's my problem -- I didn't realize MC needed to restart. I've been beating my head against this off and on for a few weeks now, but never thought to restart the app! (I run it on a VM and think of it more like a daemon.)

Thanks
restarting JRemote just means turn on and off the app (or the full smartphone)?

It's most important to restart MC on the server. For the app do this:

Just swipe the app out of memory (android) or use the double tap home button to get at it on iOS and flip it up (which removes it from memory).
Then you can reselect it from the home screen.

Yes, set JRemote options in  Tools > Options > Media Network > Advanced > Customised Views for JRemote.
Sorry I do not get it: how can I find / select the 'JRemote options' exctly? I just see a list of 'Item to Show' to be added/removed.

Thanks for the explaination

You're in the right place.  Just try a few.  You have to restart both sides after making changes.

I restarted both units (I turned off and on the smartphone housing JRemote) but cannot see the exported views.
I cannot see the views also on a mediacenter client reading the library on the server :(

Yes, set JRemote options in  Tools > Options > Media Network > Advanced > Customised Views for JRemote.

Are you sure you changes the views in the settings ABOVE as Scobie pointed out?
The views can be changed in different places for different devices.

Are you using JRemote on Android or iOS?

You mentioned not seeing the changes on the Media Center client reading the library on the server. It sounds like you have at least two Media Center instances (a client and a server). If that's correct, which Media Center did you make these changes on? Which does JRemote connect to? You also need to restart the Media Center you made the changes on once you're done. The changes won't take effect until after the restart.

No now I can see the changes on the client running on a PC.
I cannot see the views on JRemote.
I have just an instance of the server running and possibly multiple instances of the clients here and there (including JRemote which I consider a client)

Strangely I have a quuery displaying 'Solo piano composition sorted by composer' which shows thre or four pieces in JRemote ... there is some dead beef around in my system

I removed all the query in Media Network > Advanced > Customized view for JRemote
I then added some custom views from Add > Library Item from Standard view
Restart media Server and Restart JRemote. No improvement: JRemote is still displaying the old views ...
