Title: Switch zones depending on whether or not an external sound card is plugged in
Post by: seanmcdougall on July 23, 2018, 12:41:49 pm
Is there a way of getting Media Center 24 to switch the audio output device automatically, depending on whether or not an external DAC is plugged in at the time?

Use case: When I am at work, I plug in an external DAC and listen via headphones. On the road, I have to go with the laptop's built in speakers. Nine times out of ten, Media Center pops up a message saying it can't play the source file as the output device is missing. Sometimes, this is embarrassing - eg showing a video to a client.

Zoneswitch is great for changing the DSP options depending on file type - it would be great if there was a way of getting it to check whether the external DAC was plugged in or not.
