Title: Download problems
Post by: THEO-THOR-DORE on July 27, 2018, 05:16:56 am
Gooooood morning USA (in a few more hours).
This is TT.
Firstly, I want to thank again everyone who helped me out in
my last trouble for the missing "LAV Splitter."

Now, a potentially greater problem has arisen.
Here's the error message in the (second) pop-up box:

"C:.........exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

The problem has repeatedly taken place while trying to download the newest
version of MC24.
But I haven't changed anything in my PC, and accessed the JRiver website in
the same fashion (as instructed in the replies to my prior post, and which
proved successful in my previous upgrades).

Your kind help or pointing to a relevant thread is welcome.
Thanks in advance,
TT

Good morning JimH,
TT here.

Thanks for your reply.
Please instruct me (ruthlessly, if required) if I've missed out on any
important issues.

To clarify, the "new" download problem takes place:

(1) while I temporaily disable my anitvirus (norton).
(2) in the recent past, disabling this alone had made download possible.

To my knowledge, since installing norton, the MS or win10 whatever
anitivirus is always disabled.

Thanks,
TT

Uninstalling antivirus is the only way to be sure that it isn't causing the problem.

Don't assume that Windows Defender is disabled.

Can you not open the norton antivirus program and give MC24 the necessary permissions to download updates etc?

Appreciations for your replies, JimH and swiv3D and,
Apologies for my much-too-late response

I just downloaded MC24.0.48 and it worked!
At least for one video I tested (.ifo).

Thank you so much!

The strange thing is that, I' d attest under oath if you wanted,
that I used the same procedures outlined in my previous
query.
If this is in fact the case, I'm puzzled as to why the same result
does not always follow.

As for the solutions suggested by JimH and swiv3d,

I think Defender is disabled because I get a warning message that
it is -or is it a fake message?-, and just temp disabling Noroton works;
but, in order to dissolve this problem, and in order not to experience
scary moments, I'll try to tweak my Norton settings.

Thank you again and do have a pleasant evening.
TT

Uninstall Norton.
