Title: Streaming Hardware

Was about to pull the trigger on a ChromeCast Ultra when i made the mistake of doing some research.

I want to be able to talk DLNA to MC24, and also stream apps.

The Chromecast can do this (with Bubble UPnP), but since looking around I've seen other options such as Roku, Apple TV, NVidia, Amazon etc.

Does anyone have a feel as to how well any of these devices work and play with JR MC?

How about the JRiver Id?

Audio?  Any video?

Hi Jim.

I've got audio streaming sorted as my DLNA Renderers all do this very well natively.

However I want to replace an ageing Sony Blu Ray with another streaming device to handle video as my AVR will not stream video via DLNA.

I thought the easiest way was to plug a Chromecast into the AVR and have confirmed this is supported. Additionally this gives me local catch up and all associated apps, Stan, Netflix etc should I want to use them.

Question is how well does Chromecast actually work with MC24, or should I be looking at one of the other options if they work better.

Gizmo works with Chromecast, but I don't know about video.

I tried the Chromecast devices when they first came out, and again a year later.  I never felt they were solid.  I often had to power cycle mine (plugged into a TV).  I suppose they are better now.

The google is supposedly ok although many people prefer the Roku.

That device may not have great local (Aus)  content though apparently.

Seems they all do the same job, maybe just have to suck it and see.
