Title: Downloading Updates Problem
Post by: justinp on June 03, 2003, 03:55:15 pm
When I fired up Media Center (9.0.174) today it went out looking for updates, found one, and attemped to install it.  Unfortunately it failed to do so with the error "Failed to connect  to a server"  "Reason: Unknown".

I am behind a firewall and proxy (corporate environment) and have no problems with any other applications connectivity.

Any clues?

Thanks

Justin

if that is the issue then how does it discover that there is an update ready for download?  Either you are picking up the proxy details or you are not, if you weren't then I should get an error when it looks for updates.

I'm having the same problem getting the update to work, so I would appreciate
getting some more feedback on this.
I'm getting the "unable to connect to server" popup when I try to do the update
from the drop down help menu.
I'm using version 9.0.88 registered and paid for.  I have my firewall configured to
allow Media Center to connect to the internet, and I have no problems with any other
program connecting.  Is it possible that your update server IS actually down?  Let us know.....
