Title: crashes every time i play a song

Hi.

This latest version and the previous seem to crash every time I go to play a song.  I just open MC and doubleclick on a song and it just shuts down.  I do not receive the MS crash pop up screen though.

any help is appreciated.

Try different file types (images vs. audio, etc.) and different playback settings.

If you can nail it down, let us know what it is.

Otherwise we can dig more.

Try deleting your custom visualizations.

Hi.

Videos play fine.  I played the songs in the Media Library directly and bypassed the Playing now and this still happens.  It immediatly shuts down everytime I play a song.

Any other ideas?

I had that happen to me on one build.  Here's the only thing that fixed it:

1. Uninstall MC and any plug-ins
2. Reboot
3. The uninstall will leave the folders and a few files, after reboot navigate to the folder and delete everything
4. Reboot
5.  Reinstall MC to a different directory

that has nothing to do with visualizations

at any rate there has and i have seen them where if you had slideshow running and you tried to play a file that MC9 would go away i think there have been cases with the visualizations also.

somtimes it is due to an old video driver and or video card.

I just recalled that the plug in album view expired around the same time i started having this problem. I've since uninstalled this plug in but still have the problem.

Are you saying that you tried a bunch of things before going to this level?

I'd suggest trying the complete uninstall as I mentioned.  At the worst you loose a little time (MC will rebuild your library, so don't worry about that).

I tried all combinations of removal of MC from my system before doing it exactlyas listed in my post.  I uninstalled the plug-ins separately like you did but it didn't work.  Those exact steps were the only thing that helped.

I followed all your suggestions.  Thanks.

I reinstalled to a new directory but now get the following:

"Media center was not installed incorrectly for the current user.  Please reinstall media center."

Do you know how to handle this?

Maybe try to uninstall everything, reboot, and then reinstall the latest.
