Title: custom tag prob
Post by: nektar on June 03, 2003, 09:09:48 am
hi all

I'm using MJ on my MP3-Server. Now I bought MC for a second PC and for testing (later for my MP3Server). I have over 250GB MP3 on my Server and all have a custom tag (custom1) I called this field "country". This tag are very importent for me.

now, when I use MC and I put the country in the custom1 Tag MJ cannot read it. MC handle custom tags different. I don't want change all my mp3 tags.

what can I do? I tried to configure the custom tag different, but without success (in MC you can configure the custom tags better, that's really good :))

Sorry for my bad englisch :P

it read mine.

how about trying this.

right click on the file list header, Click On "Visible Columns", then make sure custom1 has a check mark by it.

I see the field but I mean when I edit custom1 tag with MC then I have a blank custom tag field in MJ. In MC under Properties, Format the custom1 tag is writen "ExInfo Custom1="UK"" (edit with MJ) or "COMM (Custom 1): UK" (edit with MC). I think there is the problem. MJ cannot read custom tags when i have pasted something in with MC. The question: can I configure MC that it write custom1 same like MJ?
thanks

no

the custom1 etc.. and a few other fields in MJ were extended MJ tags using something like XML code and saved at the begining of the file.

J river droped this for i am sure many reasons but one of them was it was not compatable with Tag editors.

the way MC9 saves the tags now you can edit it with a good tag editor.

==================================

basicly the answer is you can't do it
