hello
tried to play with Digital Media Renderer Analyser to test my AVR and it discovered pio twice, see attachment
one of the lines is in red, which one should I prefer and what differences are?
sometimes Digital Media Renderer Analyser couldn't find any renderers in my LAN so I've had to try it over and over again, check Use Windows discovery box, restart, etc. to make it see anything
another problem is that when it automatically started supported audio format test it could only play the very first track, all subsequent ones failed with timeout
but if I start it one by one it plays not only the very first one
though according to specs pio only support stereo via network I was really surprised to hear that DMRA was able to send and play 6 ch wav/192
now I wonder whether is it true (or some error) and if yes then how to configure dsp/transcoding in jriver in order to play multichannel flac/dff etc. via dlna

The red entry [DMR v2] indicates that your receiver supports both the original UPNP specs (v1) but also the version 2; that version added some new features including I think the ability to do synchronised play to multiple devices.
It’s the first renderer I have seen from a big name manufacturer to support v2, so can you please run the renderer report and post the result here? Also the same report from the v1 renderer so we can compare.
It is a bit academic for the moment since I have not yet seen a major Control Point (not MC even) which actually makes use of the DMR v2 new features. But given that a renderer maker has broken the ice, it’s possible that others will now be tempted to jump in the water too.

This probably means that you have a routing problem on your LAN. What configuration of routers and WIFI boxes do you have? What firewalls and anti virus software? How are your devices getting their IP addresses, via DHCP or static? And are there any IP address conflicts (duplicate IPs, different subnet, etc)? It’s best to use DHCP with DHCP IP reservations for each of your devices..
another problem is that when it automatically started supported audio format test it could only play the very first track, all subsequent ones failed with timeout
but if I start it one by one it plays not only the very first one
This may either be the network issue mentioned above. Or possibly a SetNext issue. When you send me the renderer report we can check deeper.

The renderer report will show what formats it can play (or more accurately what it claims to be able to play)

I'll report back results when I get back to my 901
I have both pc and 901 wired in the lan controlled by MIKROTIK HAP AC RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT
I bought 901 just few weeks ago and initially it worked fine with its default dhcp settings but suddenly after few days of playing with it avr fell off my lan and I've had to turn its dhcp off and manually assign the very same ip to it and statically bind it in mikrotik as it couldn't get correct IP and connect. since then most of the time I have no major problems with its network functions (android remote apps, dlna via jriver or other servers, built-in tidal, tunein etc.) though couple of times I had to power cycle it to bring it back to network. anyway as I already mentioned if I turn "Use Windows discovery" in DMRA on it finally finds avr so no big deal here and this isn't main concern for me atm
IIRC according to report 901 supports SetNext but in fact gapless dlna-playback doesn't work so I have to wait for few seconds whenever track changes
may I ask you how exactly should play aforementioned 6-channel wav/192? I could hear some sound but not sure whether from every channel (I have 5.0.2 config) or from fronts only
-
anyway as I already mentioned if I turn "Use Windows discovery" in DMRA on it finally finds avr so no big deal here and this isn't main concern for me atm
btw MC usually have no problems discovering avr in just few seconds upon MC launch
-
I would suggest NOT to turn off DHCP.
Some routers seem only to route packets on IP addresses that they themselves have assigned. This seem particularly the case for UPNP UDP discovery protocols.
It’s better to turn on DHCP but make sure that each (media) device on your LAN has an IP reserved for it in the routers DHCP reservation table. This means that the router is happy that all IP addresses have been issued by itself and can be routed properly.
On the other hand if you have a hybrid of DHCP and static IP addresses, then the router has no way to know if a static address has been assigned manually, so there is a high risk that it will try to assign the same IP address to another device.
-
I wouldn't turn avr DHCP off unless something screwed it up
other devices in lan have no problems with it and for many of them I made static reservations in mikrotik
in fact no big deal for me as I generally have no problems with avr network functions
but I think we digress as the main point of the topic is potential multichannel playback

Interesting.
Could you please post the same report on DMR v2 as well?
The log says it played the 6 channel track; which means that as far as UPNP / DLNA transactions are concerned, it 1) responded to all SOAP commands without errors, and 2) reported all playing state changes correctly without timeouts, either via NOTIFY and/or via polling.
But the question is of course, how did it actually sound? Probably the test track is too short for you to actually hear all channels. So I suggest you find the test track on your HD, save a backup of it, and then replace the test track with a longer actual music file, giving it the same name as the original test track. Then you can run the DMRA again, and it will play your longer test track instead of the short one provided by me.

Any idea where to get longer files in required format? I think I have a few 5ch flac and dff files but not sure whether those will fit for the purpose. Going to test them when get back to 901
Another question is how to make your app correctly test entire tracklist without timeout errors and me pushing every other file with mouse click

@AndrewFG - I got all excited seeing DLNA V2 but I think it is just the MFR's designation. I had a look at both a Pio that had V2 in it's designation and a Yami that had V3. Neither supported SyncPlay (Yami Report attached).

as expected it couldn't play renamed flac (with different media attributes) so the question remains unresolved

Use MC to convert one of your multi channel flacs to wav, and then rename it to the DMRA’s test file name..
