Title: Is there a difference in the MC24 app and the Media Center 24 app

in the 64 bit version?

Both seem to start the program.

My guess would be they are the same. Just different way to use letters of the alphabet.

EDIT: I should look into things before I open my flap  8)

I don't get it, you mean the MC24.exe file? I believe that's used for Media Server, unless I'm mistaken.

MC24.exe is the command line launcher - see wiki https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/The_Command_Line (https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/The_Command_Line)
Media Center 24.exe is the main program executable.

If you double click MC24.exe it will run the launcher without parameters which defaults to launching MC in standard view.

EDIT: The wiki states that MC24.exe is only installed in the system folder, that changed some releases back and the launcher is also included in the MC program folder now.
