Title: AK380, macbook detect issues

Astell & Kern AK380,  JRiver MC24 installed and loaded with music.  MacBook Pro High Sierra (10.13.6).

When MC is opened, and AK380 is plugged in, it's not recognized automatically.
When MC/Options/Handheld/Device Management is pulled up, I get "(No handhelds present)"
If I use "Add device", nothing is found
If I use "Redetect all devices", nothing is found.

Can anyone suggest a way to get my AK380 to be recognized and sync'd with MC24 (or possibly an older version?)?
