Back when MediaCenter 9 was just a beta, I tried it and promptly uninstalled it when it would freeze upon inserting a CD and clicking on the drive from the list.
I am now running the latest version (as of 5-28-03) of MediaCenter 9, but I cannot play or RIP any CDs through it. Here is what happens: load MC9, pop in a CD, select that drive from "CDs, DVDs, and Handhelds" and MC9 immediately locks up.
On my desktop computer, I can click the drives with no CD in them. On my brand-new notebook computer, just clicking the drive with no CD inserted instantly freezes MC9.
I also noticed (who couldn't?) that detecting the CD-ROM drives in the settings dialog takes an unbelievable long time.
What gives?
I'm running Win XP Home on both machines.

I found that MC9 does eventually work, but it takes several minutes to do anything related to the CD. Just playing a track off a CD takes minutes to load. That stinks!

>> Just playing a track off a CD takes minutes to load. are you talking about ripping it first then playing the ripped file.
because playing a cd should happen within a second.

We've heard of this behavior before but couldn't reproduce it. Please email me and hopefully we can quickly get to the root of the problem.
Thanks!
