Title: Tivo Home Media option vs. HP EW5000
Post by: wnossel on May 26, 2003, 01:39:43 pm
I still need to buy the hardware to stream my music/pictures on the stereo/tv.

TiVo series 2 looks good on paper, but when I called Tivo I was told that it does not support >5000 files, nor  Id3 tags.

The EW 5000 (by HP) looks way cooler and cheaper (since I already own a Tivo 1, I don't care that it's not a digital video recorder).

Can I use MC9 to control the EW 5000?
Also, I'd love to hear from users of both machines what they like/dislike about them.

Thanks a lot!    :D

I can stream my files 24,000+ on tivo

as a matter of fact you can buy a 300+ hour Tivo (it's a modified series 2)

Like KingSparta said, Media Server can handle more than 5000 files and send them to the TiVo, plus other bonuses like converting non-MP3 files to MP3 format, or doing streaming radio stations to the TiVo.

The TiVo displays the artist and title of the track (along with some other info), whether using TiVo's server or Media Server.

We don't support the HP EN5000 or the EW5000 at this time.
