Hi
I frequently use Inputs from my AD DA multichannel Interface (RME UFX, RME UFX II).
While I can select input channels from RME UFX and UFX II by
"Open Live"
and then choosing ASIO, WDM etc. this is clumsy. Moreover because I need an offset and a digital loopback to be configured, tricky (RME specific).
Also Listening to Spotify , youtube etc I need to:
"Open Live WDM"
Now I propose to add in the section "Open" any input available by the hardware (AD DA multichannle device)
It could be done like "Zones", adding any Inputs (in Stereo pairs best).
I could for example configure:
Input Selector:
-Phono (would be RME UFX Analog1 and analog2, ASIO)
-Tape (would be Analog3, Analog4, ASIO)
-Windows: Spotify, Youtube etc.: would be WDM from Windows sound System
-Open Live (as is today)
-Open https (as is today)
-Open File (as is today)
Whereas "Phono, Tape etc. names are configurable in and if they are there or not (can be added like "adding Zones")
Default would be as of today.
If user wants more inputs, they must be added manually.
MC24 would work like a preamp source-selector.
P.S.:
I do not have anymore a preamp, I do everything in MC24 and in Totalmix (RME routing tool).
RME UFX has 12x analog and 2x8 digital inputs, plenty. However I would not configure all of them, just about 4x Stereo

So, to summarize, you would like something like Input Zones?

I made this request some time ago -> https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,112839.msg780340.html#msg780340
IMV these things should be items in the library as they are things you play, I think it's confusing enough that a zone is both a physical output and a DSP configuration without adding inputs to the mix.

Hi Jim
yes you could say it so.
Adding configurable inputs to the "open" section could be an idea.
Inputs coul be added elsewhere.

Yes thats another option. Good idea.
Then Inputs show up as library to play from, you would then have:
-Library "phone"
-Library "Tape"
-Library "Spotify"
-Library (the one all flac, mp3 resides on)
-etc.

+1 for me!!!
i make similiar questions time ago https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,95646.msg658832.html#msg658832
input zone is good idea!!

good.
Lets work on the details (specs) how it should work, menues etc.
A mockup of a hypothetical user interface and functionality will help.

There is really no need for a complex user interface or anything like that. mattkhan's suggestion seems to be the most reasonable and integrates properly into how MC works already, just let the live url store more properties so you can make a library entry out of it and call it a day.

I wiil look at this suggestion. Maybe it solves the request.

I wiil look at this suggestion. May be it solves the request.
it doesn't do this atm so you can't try it
-
I may clarify.
Yes I know will not work at the moment.
Question is, if that could be made to work at least on user perspective.
If it will work (or is reasonabel to implement), JRiver tsoftware team has to evaluate.

Well my suggestion is really just "store the parameters for the dialog box in a library entry and use them instead of showing the dialog box" . The user interface is then use the dialog to play what you want then save playing now into the library.
I was thinking in terms of minimum work to implement equals most likely to get done :)
Whether they will put time into implementing it is another question, we shall see if it turns up in the release notes at some point!

Hi
here details to my proposal of adding an Input Selector. Could be in the section PlayingNow/Library as Library Item (as proposed by others).
Sess attached

any news about this? :o
