Title: remind me how to change the "the" problem
Post by: bannonb on January 08, 2019, 11:53:01 am
Hello:

It seems like the behavior of search used to suppress the "the" in a field...but I can't recall if there is a switch to change somewhere.

If I am in music organized by artist, and I want to find "The Doors", I would like to just start typing "d-o-o-r-s" to gravitate to it.  Right now that search won't find that artist, because it is sorted with the leading "the".

Any help is appreciated.

I think the setting you want is:

Tools > Options > Tree & View > sorting > ignore articles > (checked)

Thanks Brian

Probably the easiest one all day!

It would appear that this is among the settings that aren't preserved during upgrade.  I could be wrong, but it appeared after the MC24 upgrade.
