Hi,
I went from 23 to 24 today... Easy install but ...in 23, Theatre View worked fine...but with Version 24.0.72(64bit) when I try to use theatre view I get the error message,
ERROR STARTING OPEN GL ENGINE (LOADING OPEN GL SHADERS FAILED). >: ( My first instinct was to update the drivers on my Graphics card. I did that, nothing.
Has anyone encountered this? It's not super critical for listening of course but I did use theatre view and found it a compelling little extra when I try to convince people of the
merits of JRiver...
thanks,
-
Can you post a log file?
https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging
-
Sure,
thanks,
-
Unfortunately, thats not a usable log package.
Please follow the steps exactly:
1.) Enable Logging (Help -> Logging, Check "Output to a log file")
2.) Reproduce the problem (ie. Try opening Theater View)
3.) Create a Log Package (Help -> Logging, Click "Report problem..."
4.) Attach the full ZIP file it generates here.
The files you uploaded are unfortunately not quite helpful yet. :(
-
Apologies for the previous log....
thank you for following up,
-
Unfortunately the log is still almost empty. Did you open Theater View after enabling logging?
Also, don't restart Media Center in-between any of the steps. You should be able to exist Theater View even in its "broken" state by pressing "Esc" a few times.

OK,
I think I got it now,
Michael

Thanks, the log looks useful. I'll look into it.
-
I wish I could understand it !
thank you,
-
I've send you a Personal Message with a test version to use for some extra information
-
Here is the latest zip file... after I reloaded version 24.
BTW, I reloaded 23 and Theatre view works.... with 24.0.72...not so much.
thank you,
-
To keep this thread updated, I'm currently trying to dig up some old hardware based on the same graphics chip, so hopefully I'll be able to see something then.
-
thank you Hendrik...I am away from my rig but can still connect to the web.
-
I found the reason for the problem, and we'll include a fix in future builds of Media Center.
-
thank you Hendrik,
I look forward to the fix since I use the feature a lot to impress friends and bring them into the JRiver world. I suspect I am not the only one who does that! Will it be part of the V25 update?
-
Definitely be part of 25. We'll see if I can also squeeze it into a MC24 build still.
-
great! 8)

I have the same error message from MC24 (32bits) to MC25 (64bits).
-
First of all, you should have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed. If thats not the case, you should do that.
Additionally, can you install this Windows Update and see if it works then?
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2999226/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows
(Pick the version for your OS from the list further down in the Article)
-
I have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed.
Issue resolved with the Windows update.
Thank you
-
Cool.
For what its worth, I think Windows Update should deliver that update automatically to every system keeping up-to-date, so either I'm misinformed about that, or did you not install available updates? Just trying to figure out where my information stands. :)

It's a specific and old version of windows 7 pro named "Arium".
