Title: Temporarily using an external library?

I am traveling and want to access my VERY large itunes (almost 2TB) music library which I have on a portable external hard drive?  Unclear how I can do this?  I do not want to copy this library to my laptop.  Just want JRiver to let me use the files (listening/copying to device etc.).   Been trying everything with no luck.  Anyone know how to accomplish this?

Set up a new test library and import the files.
