There is a new thread on JRiver Cloudplay (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,120166.msg830682.html#msg830682).
I'd like to ask you to help us improve the content on Radio JRiver. We'll be working on it again these next few weeks, but we need more audio.
You can use the new Doctor Who (https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Doctor_Who) to upload playlists. Sign up first, using your forum name, then right click on any playlist to upload it to our server at Amazon S3. If you have spent significant time building playlists, this is a good way to back them up.
The requirements at this time are:
1. Limit lists to 50 tracks.
2. Tracks must be lossless (FLAC, APE, WAV, etc.). Stereo only.
3. Curated playlists, not random music, and not full albums.
4. Try to give the playlists a meaningful name.
5. Audio files are included with the playlist. We pay the royalty costs for streaming.
Once they are uploaded, please post a note here.
These files may be added to Radio JRiver. You can always play them from our server. Others will be able to find them on Doctor Who and play them from our server.
Thanks to those who have already contributed.
Previous Thread on the new Doctor Who (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,118655.msg827045.html#msg827045) aka Playlist Upload.

I use keywords instead of playlists, since I want all info to be in the tags. It's the same thing, really, only files do not have a specific order, but content is highly curated (I work as a DJ). Is something like this interesting as well? I can upload a few keywords/genres.
-
Yes, please. Try a few.
-
2. Tracks must be lossless (FLAC, APE, WAV, etc.). Stereo only.
What's the situation with 24 bit audio?
Can it be uploaded?
If so will people then be able to stream it at 24 bit?
-
Not at this time. We may add that later.
-
Uploaded some Kansas, Shadow Gallery, and a Southern Rock playlist. Will upload more!
-
Will it be possible to access these on idpi? Using JRiver or Panel?
-

Thank you. I don't see it in Doctor Who. What is your user name there? It's best to keep the same name as the forum.
Make sure you have MC 24.0.75.
-

Not yet on the Id. Soon.
Panel can connect to JRiver on Windows and play from the Doctor Who playlists, either on the server or on the client.
Edit: The Id can also play a Doctor Who playlist from a Windows machine, just the way Panel can. You just need to load the library from the Windows machine.
-
I should be able to do some uploads.
I'll start with a couple small ones within the next week.
Just need to find some internet and may have to convert some 24 bit to 16.

We're going to make a change to allow 24 bit FLAC.

Jim, I'm using the same name as my forum name, and I'm using 24.0.75.

Odd. I don't see it in Doctor Who.

Jim, just to confirm that I'm doing this correctly... I log into my Docter Who account, then I right-click a playlist of FLAC files, select Upload to Cloud. I received the e-mails with the links and MPL files were placed on my desktop of the playlists. Is that the expected behavior?

Yes. What user name did you use there? I don't see MGD_King.

Here's a screen snip of what I'm logged in as.
-
I'm also seeing that tracks that I uploaded are now showing as duplicates, one local file and the other http://RadioJRiver... That's not normal is it?
-
If you click on Doctor Who, do you see yourself listed in the list of users?
I'm sorry, but this could be a bug. Thanks for testing.

I cannot find myself in the list of users.

I'm also having this issue. I think that the uploaded files ("http://") should either be stacked automatically (with the local version) or relegated to the "Upload" playlist group.
-
Any chance of an easy way to locate playlists with uploaded files - to avoid wading through the whole shebang. I know there is a download icon attached to such playlists - but a quick way to select only that type of playlist would be useful.
-
That's coming soon.
-
I have tried several times in the last couple days to upload a playlist without success.
All files fail and I get the message "Errors prevented uploading one or more playlist tracks. Please try again later".
All files are 16bit flac with embedded cover art.

But are they 44.1khz?
EDIT: Having said that, it does appear that upload to the cloud is broken. Also the number of users has dropped from >6000 down to 221 ?
-
Thanks for the help with new playlists.
If anyone wants to try it, open Playlists > Doctor Who. Register and login if you need to. Then click on the settings icon and check "Only show users and playlists that have uploaded content."
You will see a list of new users with the Doctor Who 2 playlists. There's now a play button, so you can play without downloading the playlist. It's working perfectly for me.
-
Upload to the cloud - if a file exists it tells you, if the file doesn't exist the upload fails.
-
Upload to the cloud - if a file exists it tells you, if the file doesn't exist the upload fails.
Just remove it from the playlist and try again.
-
Try a test list of fewer files, just to see if you can make anything work.
Multi-channel FLAC won't work.
-
What version of MC are you using?
-
Have tried this playlist for 3 days and get the same result each time. The file uploads show 1%, 2% and then fail.
My previous attempts failed instantly, where today each file uploaded between 1 and 6 percent. Same results with 24.0.77 and 25.0.11.
-
We've been working on the server and it's possible we broke something. We'll check on Monday.
-
Is there stil a problem? I attempted to upload a playlist and every track fails. No indication why. All tracks meet the criteria. 2Ch, 44Khz, 16bit, flac, cover art.
-
Yes. Still a problem. I'm sorry. We'll post here when it's fixed.
-
We believe it's working again. Please give it a try.
-
Yes, upload is working once more.
-
Thanks.
-
Is there any way to indicate to someone that there is a problem with their playlist. I downloaded an 88 track playlist by bifmeister and only 8 tracks appear (repeated this a few times). Clearly something is affecting the playlist download, but there is no way to inform anyone.

I just saw the same thing. The playlist is broken and there's currently no way to flag it.
You can update library from tags so the 8 songs that are there work.
-
Yes the 8 songs play fine, it's just that there look to be some interesting tracks further down in the playlist.

I just sent him a message.

Thanks Jim.

Jim, I still don't see myself listed as a user. Can anyone else see my username?
-
We'll check.

You are listed with 6 playlists and 4 downloads - but you probably already know that by now.
-
Thanks for all the new playlists. I'm enjoying listening to them.

That's great weirdo12, now if you could add about 49 other tracks to that playlist and then upload them it would be very useful.

I got 23 done - you'll have to live with that for today!

Check out Red by Treble Charger :)

Enjoying your playlist weirdo12.

I uploaded a playlist called "Alternative 90s Batch 01". If all is fine with it I will do more in a few days.

It's there now. I'm playing the playlist without a problem.

Sweet!! I haven't looked in a couple of days but I will this weekend. I'll generate some more playlists, too. Any one have any requests? LOL
-
Not at this time. We may add that later.
Support for higher bit/sample rates would be appreciated- no so much because streaming those bitrates will result in amazing audio but because a lot of my handmade playlists include tracks of higher sample rates and I don't want to upload incomplete playlists.
-
Added playlist Dr Weirdo12 Who - 3 tonight.
-
Support for higher bit/sample rates would be appreciated
I assume you'd be happy with automatic down sample from hi-res.
-
Yes that would be fine. If I want to listen to real high res I won't be streaming it. Being able to upload my own playlists without having to downsample myself will encourage me to upload a lot more.
-

Yes, I agree.

grrhh
1 Playlist Failed to upload.
all 16bit flacs
-
Playlist upload does seem to be having problems at the moment.
-
We should be able to correct the problem and recover any playlists that failed. I'm sorry for the problem.
-
This should be working now. If your playlists don't show, please let us know.
-
There are file size calculations for streaming here:

I started looking at this over the weekend but ran out of time :(
some things...
I grudgingly looked up my login details for Cloud Play and logged in, ticking the 'Remember me' box, again...
Why doesn't the falcon show up as my user icon?
Is the track limit for uploaded playlists still 50 tracks?
It was ready to start an upload of 250+ tracks, but I didn't kick it off.
All of this was in preparation for testing playback in the car via JRemote...
Are we any closer to that yet? I am thinking that if we are able to do that, I could turn off remote access to the server and use Cloud Play instead? It's certainly the only scenario where I can see me using this feature... or would I need to route requests for Cloud Play on the iPhone over 4G through an MC server?
Can iPhone play the file types involved? transcoding would be needed too, right? Maybe this can't be made to work after all?
That's my 'thinking out loud' all done :)

I'm sorry for the problem.
That's nice of you to say so 👍
After the failed weekend uploading attempts, today I am pleased to say my eclectic cloud collection uploaded with ease 🎵
Thanks to those involved.

It's 100 tracks, but we're still trying to find the right combination of limits.

Yes, in a car, without your home server. You'd need a browser to access it and a good Internet connection. Browser support is coming soon.
Not with JRemote. We may add it to JRiver for Android.

Most modern browsers support HTML5 and that does the actual playback. FLAC should work.
-
@Bigguy2015, you have good taste.

Nice. Flac, Wav and mp3 only, on iPhone.

A different browser might behave differently.

There is a new thread on JRiver Cloudplay (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,120166.msg830682.html#msg830682).
