Title: Audio analyze
Post by: Mirko on May 19, 2003, 03:09:43 am
Hi,

just have been trying to analyze about 1,400 files. After about the 250th file MC just hang up using quite a lot of memory (if I remember correctly it was about 50MBs).

I remember a memory leak error happens during the MJ8-versions; at that time I had to re-setup analyze a couple of times to run it through the hole collection. May this be the cause or doesn't anyone else discover this behaviour?

Thanks in advance,
Mirko

last time i tried a few weeks ago, i did not have a problem.

it may depend on the file type and the version your using.

The latest workaround (or avoidance) to this problem is to turn off the "Update tags when file info changes" options while doing the analysis. It's under Tools\options\general.

last time i tried a few weeks ago, i have a problem.... but it wasn't 50MB it was 2GB of (virtual) ram... so 50MB would be a vast improvement....

maybe I should try again. ;-)

I only have vbr-mp3s to analyze. Yesterday I deleted all not-mp3-files from the database just to make sure, MC didn't try to analyze my short movie clips (which I know would kill the analyzer (or so it was a few months ago) trying to download something forever...).

Without using the work-around from above, MC still hangs (but not using 2gb, using "only" about 50mb (in normal operation mode it uses something between 13 and 20mbs here).

Thanks for the help; I will try using this work-around later this day.
