Hi. MC 24 started crashing. i've un/re=installed, tried 25, and went back to 21. All the system system crash, citing the same issue with avcodec-lav-58.dll.
I thought that it might be caused by plex, but I've uninstalled it too, still crashing.
Windows 7 OS.
Here's the windows error msg:

This might sound a bit cliché, but are you using any antivirus software? If so, what?
-
i do have malwarebytes running (i took it as cliche and then realized that might be running. doh)
-
that's not it. uninstalled malwarebytes, MC still crashing
-
Is it crashing in video playback? Try Red October Standard.
-
that's the thing -- i'm not even doing anything in it when it crashes. i thought that might be the solution too
-
Did you try switching to RO Std?
Try using MC's logging: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging
Read the previous log.txt file and look for "crashing" near the end.

It would be worth looking here for ideas:
