Title: Wrong 16x9 aspect ratio playback MKV video
Post by: Paul S.A. Renaud on May 19, 2019, 05:15:40 am
I have one DVD / MKV video (old documentary) which is 4x3. The DVD players play it properly. However JRiver plays in the wrong aspect ratio (16x9). In more than 99% of all my cases JRiver plays the right aspect ratio, but not for this one. The dimensions according to JRiver are 720 x 480 (metadata). Can I force JRiver through one of the metadata tags to play in 4x3?

720x480 sounds right for dvd resolution (ntsc) ... which mode you using for video RO standard or RO HQ?

For all my MKV's (>1000) video standard is empty. For all the others there is no problem.

You can override the aspect ratio during playback.

Right click the video window during playback -> Window -> Override Aspect Ratio -> 1.33 (Fullscreen 4:3)
MC will remember this for this particular file, so you can fix wrong files that way in a set-and-forget manner.

Apologies I use the MC MAC version (25.0.34). Post was in the wrong section. In my JR MC I do not see the option to change the aspect ratio. BTW for all my MKV's the aspect ration tag is empty.

I moved the discussion to JRiver MAC.
