Title: Unable to register controls. Please run as a power user.

Folks,

Have used MC for years. Upgrade each year. I am now running MC 25 on Windows 10. MC will no longer open on reboot. I get the message - Unable to register controls. Please run as a power user.

I have restored my registration. I have reinstalled the program. Both of these actions multiple times. But the problem persists if rebooting the computer where I have MC to start on reboot. MC 25 will open though after this message by starting the program from the shortcut button.

Looking for any assistance.

Could be a Windows Defender problem.  Are you using anything else for security?

Thanks Jim. I may have just figured it out. MC 24 was still installed. Removed it and after a few reboots not getting the “Unable to....” message now.
