Title: FLAC over HDMI
Post by: Jmmcnew on June 06, 2019, 06:47:52 pm
I actually have MC23. I have never been able to get flac or alac files to play over the hdmi on my AVR without decoding by my windows 10 compute stick.

I have selected the AVR as the output device and left the output type at none, but it always seems to come across as PCM.
(Also just as a side note, my DLNA always comes across as MP3 at 320 kbps also).

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

You cannot bitstream FLAC or ALAC over HDMI, those are just not formats supported by HDMI - its really primarily designed for audio formats used in video applications, not lossless music formats.
But there really should be no downside to letting MC decode those formats.
