Title: scanning for tv channels locks up MC9
Post by: gkerber on May 08, 2003, 05:04:42 pm
Many versions ago, I reported that trying to scan for channels using my Hauppage TV card locked up at channel 13 and I had to kill MC9.  I tried it again with today's build.

Now it locked up MC9 as soon as I click the scan button and I have to kill it.

I still can not reproduce this behavior. Today I reinstalled the Hauppauge driver (the latest from Hauppauge, version 3.35.21093), and it works fine - no lockups while scanning for channels.

My Hauppauge card is WinTV-dbx model 401.

I've got the latest drivers, and all works just fine with the WinTV2000 and the WinTV32 Hauppauge software.

My Hauppauge card is very old, maybe from 98.

And it worked fine in MediaJukebox v8.

Are you able to start a TV channel by manually adding it? If you can do it, go to TV Configuration's Advanced Properties page and click Reset button. Would that help?

I will try that tonight when I get home and let you know.  Thanks.

I am able to click a channel and see it display.

But scanning is still bad.  This time it got up to channel 55 and then locked up the program, had to kill it.

So then I clicked the RESET button as you suggested.  I got caught in a loop entering my sound card info, had to do it 3 times before it let me out of the screen, then it scanned just fine.  Pretty weird to me....

My code only asks for audio connection one time. It will not let you dismiss the dialog unless you have made selections in both drop-down lists. It does not display it in a loop.

It looks like something had corrupted the code. Virus? Defects in your computer RAM?

Well anything is possible......  But everything else works on the computer, so I doubt it's bad ram and Norton says all is well on the virus front.  But the important thing is, is that it works now.
