Clean install on my Windows 7 media PC. J River installation went fine. Configured the TV tuner, which identified all local channels no problem. However, when I try to populate the program guide, the MC2XML command prompt window and configuration screen v1.4 appear, asking for the service, options and zip code. I leave it as default and click OK. After that, nothing happens. The Please Wait, loading window remains, the command window never changes showing the config info, and after about 90 seconds the config window opens again. Just goes around in a circle. It seems the setup never completes.
Running as a local user with admin rights, so there shouldn't be any permissions issue.

mc2xml is no longer working. We're not sure if it will come back.
Perc Data is a really good alternative (http://www.percdata.com).
I just switched myself.

Is there a guide anywhere to set this particular one up, or should I just follow the general guide for adding a different provider?

Media Center has built-in Perc support already, so just get a username and password then enter it in Media Center.
The process went really well for me at home.

Ah, I see that now. I'll set that up. I just set it to use the OTA listings, but I don't think that provides more than about 36 hours in the future. I was hoping for something that provides at least a week. Perc probably does that. Thanks!

Out of curiosity about how far out does percdata go with its guide?

Discovered that Perc is also a fee based solution. I don't need an EPG bad enough to pay for one. Not when there are still free options available. If I can get the OTA EPG info searched as another user demonstrated for me, I'll muddle along with that. Recording OTA broadcast is well down my list of priorities. ;D

About 12 - 13 days.
After the update this morning, I got data for July 10, 6 PM.

Windows Media Center hadn't been updating for several days either, and it just started working again this evening. Wonder if it was related?
Anyway, I have zap2xml working now, so unless mc2xml offers something that I'm not getting with zap2xml, I'll probably just stick with it.

Our MC2XML option uses its "Microsoft" setting, which means it gets data from the same source as WMC does. So yes they are related.
