Title: Am I set up right ?
Post by: scol78 on June 29, 2019, 02:02:34 pm
Could anyone tell me if my setup is correct ?
I have 2TB of Flac files sorted on a USB powered spinning HD.
JRiver software is running on an mini Mac
Remote control is a iPad with everything running through my Cambridge 851N streamer.
mini Mac is networked to streamer over an Orbi Mesh setup.
JRiver remote used to show all artwork almost instantly but seems to be slowing these days, is this the amount of files building up or what.
Would my FLACS be better on a SSD over the network ?
Is there other options on this set up ?
What would you recommend ?
Is library auto update on, the best option ?

The USB drive is probably USB 3.0.  Make sure it's on a USB 3.0 port.

In Options > Tree & View, you can build all your thumbnails, all at once.

Would I benefit from an SSD as FLAC storage ?

An SSD is faster, but that may not be the problem.

There is a known problem when Macs have Time Machine active.  Did you try a search for that?

Time machine isn't active ,USB drive is on 3.0

I used to run everything on a NUC with connected HD this was very fast.

Just library tends to load up slower than the NUC
