Title: Can the JRemote be used on another network?
Post by: baldo on June 30, 2019, 08:34:32 am
I would like to give my neighbor the ability to control the volume on my MC.  I was thinking of getting them to download the app and then hooking into my MC.

Can they do this via their own wifi or do they need to be on the same wifi network as me for this to work.

Does JRemote connect via the same network or does it do what it does via the internet.

Many thank

It can be done.  You would need to set up your router to port forward packets inbound on 52100 to 52200 to your server.

There's a topic called Network Access (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Network_Access) on our wiki.

thanks for this Jim.

It seems that I can't access my MC from the internet.

It says that I need to configure port forwarding to allow incoming access on port 521xx.

So I assume that I have do some poking around the settings in my router.

Correct.  The manufacturer's web site for the router should help.
