Title: Can't playback on headphones on a Mac
Post by: Wan HC on July 17, 2019, 01:39:20 pm
I upgraded from MC24 to MC25 on a Mac.  I use a pair of B&W P7 bluetooth headphones which shows up on Audio Device as "P7 Bowers & Wilkins [Core Audio]" under Player\Playback Options. Playback fails with the error message beginning "Playback could not be started on the output Core Audio using the format 44.1Khz 2 channels"

Can anyone please help to resolve this problem?

You can use MC's DSP Studio > Output Settings to convert the format to 16/48 or similar.

Thanks for responding.  Pls bear with me.  I can't seem to find a section on the Output Settings page that allows me to do what you suggested?

Go to the Player menu, then DSP Studio...

From there go to Output Format on the left, and under sample rate set every Input to a 48,000 Hz output except the 48,000 Hz input (since that's the intended source sample rate, no reason to resample there). More info can be found on the wiki here: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Output_Format

This happens because most Bluetooth headphones/speakers only support a sample rate of 48 kHz, and needs everything resampled to that sample rate for it to work.
