Title: Create global search in theater view

I tried out the search function in MC's Theater View but the search listed under gadgets only seems to search for files, and in the TV guide data, and search in guide only includes guide listings, and not files.  Is there a way to modify either one of these searches to do both?  Is there a way to duplicate the stock search under guide so that I can make changes without breaking the original?  Thanks.
