Title: Audio channels lost
Post by: curiousMonkey on July 20, 2019, 11:17:04 pm
I have been using JRiver for several years and today something unusual happened.

I was using build 76 of MC 25 and noticed that playing back stereo music did not sound right. The left channel was shifted to the center channel. I tried playing music through foobar 2000 and everything sounds fine. I played around with various settings in MC, trying to get the left channel back. I turned on room equalization and boosted the output to the left channel but that did not help at all. At some point I noticed that the center channel was also gone and only the right channel was playing music.

This evening I updated to build 80 and saw the same behavior. However when I played back a surround sound (5.1) music file, all the channels were header. After switching back to a stereo file, I find that the audio is back to using center and right channels.

Any suggestions on how to debug this further?

Did you try rebooting your PC?
Something similar happened to a friend recently, but a reboot fixed it and it didn't happen again.

Rebooting the PC did solve the problem.

It seems odd that WASAPI was working fine for foobar but had problems with MC.
I suppose the problem could have been something else....
