Title: "This database will open in read-only mode..."
Post by: sadaunhe1 on July 24, 2019, 02:11:33 pm
When I opened a fresh download of MC25, I received the following: "This database will open in read-only mode. Any changes will be lost when this program exits." What settings/conditions cause this error message to appear? I tried to search for this error, but kept ending up in older, sometimes much older, versions of MC...and couldn't locate this exact text. Any help would be appreciated.

Is Media Server running? More specifically, is Media Center 25.exe always running (even when it's closed) when looking at Task Manager (in the Details tab)?

Same problem for me and it isn't running twice under task manager. Only started happening after recent patch.

If you navigate to the folder where your library files are stored (not your media files) and delete a file called lock.jmd the problem will go away.

Reboot.  Make sure you aren't starting two copies of MC.  Check MC settings for Starttup.
