Title: Is SMB V1/CIFs support required for networked tuners?
Post by: jachin99 on July 25, 2019, 10:14:35 am
I have noticed on 2 PCs running JRiver & Windows 10 that I had to enable CIFs support to get MC to tune a channel and play Live TV.  I currently use a HD Homerun Prime, and I plan to try out a Ceton ETH 6 soon.  Is this normal or is there some way I can disable CIFs support and play live TV with these 2 tuners?  Thanks.

I don't know the answer.  Do the device makers specify it?

I don't think so.  I'll test to confirm with my primes but I was wondering if there is something about jriver in particular.

I don't think we have this requirement.

I know not what SMB V1/CIF is, but I do have lots of experience with Ceton ETH 6.... All I can say is - good luck, not worth it, buggy outdated firmware, prepare for tuner spontaneous reboots/lockups/etc.

I'm waiting for the 6 tuner HDRP (coming soon).

That's what I was afraid of when I got it but at this point I might as well give it a try.  Had the primes still been in production I would have grabbed that instead
