I recently purchased a Shield TV and it's fantastic, plays anything BUT the interface can be clunky using your own media...
I see that there is an Android version, but I do not see it when I go to the Play Store via my Shield TV?
Should I see this? Thanks.

Not yet.

Any ETA? I am guessing by your response you've been asked this a few times..
-
I don't know. Sorry.

In the meantime you can try MO 4Media which has an Android TV interface (see my signature below).

We have JRiver running on the Shield now. Should have early versions available soon.

Hey guys, I am really excited about JRiver working on Android TV/Shield. I moved all my music and video away from Windows a few years ago (and JRiver) and now I use Shield for all this. The only other quality audio player I know for Android TV is MrMC. It will play DSF files (though it transcodes them to 24/192). But this program has not been updated often and they don't seem to have Shield support as a priority.
I have two dacs right now running on USB and the sound quality can be quite good. I hope that JRiver can eventually do DSD native on Shield if it's possible. I think the Shield platform is excellent for audio and video and JRiver can get a whole new community of customers there.

Very interested in this. Sounds really good.
What can we expect from MC on Shield in terms of audio and video quality compared to MC on Windows, for lossless and 4k?
Also how would file storage work noting that video and music libraries can be many TB? From a NAS or from a Windows PC running MC on the network?
Any DRM issues? Presumably it won't play iso rips?
I am assuming a Windows MC version would be needed to do library management and ripping.
Many thanks

With the new Nvidia Shield expected to be released at the end of this month is there any update on release of MC for it? Also can we assume it's a full version e.g with video and TV support?

Should I see this available now with my Shield TV unit? This was over a month ago now... I don't mind being a Tester?
-
It's probably not ready for testing yet.
-
JRiver. How about an update on this? Your email from 9/13/2019 says it's coming....
Thanks, Chris

We're having trouble getting Google to approve it. They think it crashes on some machine they test with. We can't reproduce it or get much information.
It's working, but video isn't yet.

Watching this closely, I just upgraded to the new NVidia Shield 2019 Pro box too, it runs even better than the old. Can't wait to load JRiver on it :)
Willing to be a beta tester :)

Interesting development. I moved away from JRiver a couple years ago when I ditched my HTPC for a couple of shields. I just got my upgrade notice for MC26 I would seriously consider it if I thought there was an android client forthcoming just because I think the indexing on my larger library is better than plex or emby (what I play with for movies). I might take a flyer on the upgrade... I suspect it's not strictly necessary but it would be interesting to see where things are at.

Interesting development. I opted for one of these sausage stuffers (https://www.villagevoice.com/best-sausage-stuffers/) and moved away from JRiver a couple years ago when I ditched my HTPC for a couple of shields. Let's hope Google can sort their stuff out soon. haha
