Title: MediaCenter 25 shuts down constantly
Post by: mugs on August 20, 2019, 09:20:02 am
I recently built a new PC. I installed media center on it as i had it on the other PC. However upon importing I noticed that it would not complete the import and would shut down. So I tried just leaving it on without importing. Same thing it shut down within a few minutes. I am unsure what to do about this. I have uninstalled several times and reinstalled. I have been using Media Center for quite some time and would like to continue to do so. Please advise!!

Try narrowing down the directories you import.  There may be a bad file somewhere.

Turn on logging and look at the bottom of the previous log after a crash.

It's also possible the machine isn't stable.

Thank you for the quick reply. I am not even trying to import now it just will not stay running. I have no issues with anything else the machine has been running for a couple of months now with no issues. I will try turning on logs although I am not quite sure where that is. I can surely find it.

Try restoring your license.

What is the full version?

Check your autoimport settings.

I have tried restoring my license. That did not seem to work. The version is 25.0.92 64 bit. I will try to have a look at my auto import it should be off. It is shutting down now with about 1 minute.

Turn on logging and look at the bottom of the previous log after it crashes.

Check your settings for File Locations.

I have turned logging on. I looked but saw nothing that really just jumped out. Perhaps someone with a bit more knowledge of the program might see something. What exactly do you mean by file locations? Program files? I installed with all the defaults.

Still no love it is staying on longer ....sometimes. It still shuts down when I try to import a folder. Auto import is not enabled. I dont believe there is another software that works the way MC does but if it isnt working I will not be able to use it or continue upgrading. I hope someone can help with this issue.

Please share a log after a crash running import.  It will probably point to a bad file and if you share that file, we'll handle it gracefully.

Thanks.

Antivirus?

We're not seeing stability problems, in general.

I have put an exception in the antivirus for the jriver folder in program files. If there is another place I need to add an exception I can do that.

Was having the same problem. Music playing just fine (sometimes for hours) then NOTHING. This had been happening over the last several builds.  Glad that it is fixed.

Amazing. My family has been going crazy with this same thing I believe, going back a few builds. I thought it must be a bad file trying to auto-import, but didn't have time to check it out. I hope your fix fixes my issue too.
Thanks, Matt
