Title: What is a "Dynamic Zone?"
Post by: Mike Foran on August 29, 2019, 03:10:55 pm
I see this option was added back in March 2019: "NEW: Right-click on Playing Now > "Add Dynamic Zone..." to add a zone URL someplace on the network."

I can't seem to find anywhere that explains what a "dynamic" zone is or why I would want it.

A dynamic zone is usually a device on your network which you can send files to to be played. They are usually added automatically by the MC server as it examines your network devices.

Thanks! In what situation would I need to manually add one?

I can only assume that if you deleted a dynamic zone and later wanted to put it back you would enter it's ip address. I'm only assuming here because I've never had to do anything like that myself.

I think this thread was part of the reason for adding the feature:

Dynamic Zones list not updating on Client (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=119458.0)
