Hello colleagues.
May be it's strange, but I have difficulties to play DVD from ISO files with JRiver MC on mac. :)
The point is there is automounter in macOS, no need to do something extra. I can just double click on VIDEO_TS.IFO file with VLC and it will correctly interpret it and DVD menu will be opened. We have completely different story with JRiver. It just does not know that VIDEO_TS.IFO mean.
I've tried the JRiver wiki first, of course. The point is wiki is obsoleted or just mistaken. I can see the following: "Go to Tools > Options > File types". The point is there is no "Tools > Options > File types" on mac...
So is there a way to play DVD ISO files with JRiver so logical and easy, like with VLC?
So I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.
As for me, I am a legit JRiver user for long years and have a right to ask such questions.

Unfortunately, MC for Mac does not support DVD structures in any way. No ISOs. No mounted ISOs. No VOBs or IFO directory structures.
It supports MKVs which are a popular way of saving DVDs with full resolution and all of the audio tracks. ...and of course MC for Mac supports just about every other video format you can think of.
But no DVD support at all.

Brian, actually I am depressed. ))
This is not a rocket science to support DVD on mac... You implemented so many sophisticated features, but missed this very very basic feature. Have you any plans to support DVD on mac in your schedule?

I am a JRiver customer. I do not work for them or represent them in any way. I don't know what was involved in their decision to not support DVD structures on MC for Mac.
My guess is that they will never support it, since DVD is now a "dead format", but that's just me guessing. I could easily be wrong.
Depending upon your number of DVDs, you might consider converting them to MKVs. MakeMKV for Mac is free right now (and has been for several years). It does a fantastic job of making a decrypted file with full video and audio resolution. Obviously that's up to you and the effort involved.

Brian, it's not some blame to you. But anyway, I am JRiver loyal long-term customer and I am dissatisfied.
The point is may be DVD is a "dead format" now, but there is A LOT of content on this format only and exclusively. I have JRiver to solve problems with media content, not to create artificial ones. We are talking about some obvious and essential feature.
So I fulfilled my part of agreement, I am just purchasing your piece of SW again and again. I expect my discrete needs to be noticed as well... Actually I am not alone with these needs for sure. :)

Read the post I linked to above, a JRiver developer (Hendrik) responded to the same question last year explaining why DVD ISO playback in JRiver Media Center works on Windows only right now. Here, I'll quote what Hendrik said last year...
DVD support on Windows entirely relies on a OS-provided component, as such we would have to entirely rebuild it from scratch, so at this time there are no short-term plans for this. Sorry.

Read the post I linked to above, a JRiver developer (Hendrik) responded to the same question last year explaining why DVD ISO playback in JRiver Media Center works on Windows only right now. Here, I'll quote what Hendrik said last year...
I can just kindly ask Hendrik to add DVD support on MacOS not in short-term, but in long-term strategic plans. :)
Lack of this is just an obvious competitive disadvantage.
