The product page is here:

You will have all ten restores available again when we release MC. We'll reset the count for anyone who owns a 9.0 license. For any questions on how this works -- please check:

Thanks for the resets... ;D

We'll reset the count for anyone who owns a 9.0 license.
I don't own a 9.0 liscence. I own an MJ8 liscence that allows me to use MC9.
I'm sure I'm not the only one, so just for the sake of clarity, could you confirm that our restores will be reset too.
Thanks.
It's been fascinating following this programs developement. Nice work guys, you've turned out a really class piece of software.
-
Unfortunately, it is not possible. If you run into a problem, let us know.

MC9 at $39.98 is one of the biggest bargains in software I am aware of. I have purchased a license for perhaps 150 programs over the years and it is rare that any that offer as much and will be used as often as I use MC cost as little as $40.00.
One program, which is also $40, and is great to work with is Goldwave, just coming out of beta and ready to launch version 5. But one's use of it would not likely be for as long and as frequent as most of us use MC9.
So again, congratulations to JimH and all the J River team for a great experience.

Yeah, MC9 is a wonderful piece of software. It has its flaws, but I think it's one of the few programs where the positives outweigh the negatives so much that you don't mind them. Now we need an OSX version (;)), as iTunes is only so-so and Audion doesn't support Smartlists as far as I know.

MJ version 8 license purchased by December 3, 2002, will work with MC version 9.
If "by" means "before" as I assume it does, then I don't want to sound ungrateful, but ... why? When I bought MJ8, I happily paid for the functionality that existed at that time. MC9 is a huge upgrade compared to MJ8, and I think it would be very reasonable indeed to get that upgrade for $20. Why is the upgrade free?
-
>> Why is the upgrade free?
for some reason J River likes to give software out free from time to time.
I think they should charge for it, but i don't own the company.
I think JimH sells wood stoves on the side to keep J River a float.

Happy April 11th, everyone!
;D

Jim,
How do I pay the $19.95 for my "official" upgrade to 9.x from 8.x? I've been enjoying the 9.x betas from the beginning. The pricing info page gives the $19.95 upgrade price, but there is no further link to make the purchase. Are you planning to e-mail upgrade notices to registered users?
Thanks,
- jeff@wickamo.com

Install the latest version of MC.
Go to Help in the program and select Buy.
If you have a version 8 license that is older, you may not need to buy.

I just want to add my 2 cents / praises for this product . . .
This is a great program. I have fooled around with Media Player 9 and RealPlayer and I found both disappointing. Of course, I downloaded (and will be purchasing) Media Center 9 because of the compatibility with the Tivo HMO. However, Media Center 9 has helped me organize my collection. Once I figured out the views scheme, I can now browse / play my entire collection the way I want and not the way it is stored on my hard drive.
I easily easily cleaned up all of my ID tags and then used the feature to rename the files according to the tags. Another great feature. Before I downloaded this program, I was pondering and had already started rearranging my folder structure on my hard drive. Fortunately, I found this program before I got too far along.
Also, the bundled software is a great bonus.
Lastly, this forum is a valuable resource. Thanks for the support.

It's good business. I personally would not have been willing to pay $20 for the upgrade. By letting me upgrade to MC9 for free, JRiver keeps me as a customer, makes me feel more valued as a customer, and keeps me attached to their product line. In the future, when the free upgrades run dry, I'll thus be more likely to shell out cash for whatever upgrade is available at the time.

Zoner,
You might be willing to fork out loads of cash each time but some of us aren't as rich as you.
Their free upgrade policy for those of us that are poorer is a VERY good way to keep us feeling happy and that we got our money's worth. It means that come v10, no matter if I'm skint I'll fork out for it because I'll feel its good value for money and that I'm not going to have to fork out again in a few months when the next version is released.
Its a VERY good way of making people feel they're getting value for money.
Thanks for the free upgrade!!
And the page looks good.
A few small thoughts though:
1. It talks about slide show as if it was a part of the program but in fact it is a plugin we have to pay for. This might cause a few annoyed customers if they buy it for this feature.
2. All the screen shots are great but it can be a bit hard to see how they fit together to some extent. This is one thing that bugs me when I first go to a site and have no idea about the program and want to try to work it out from its pictures.
One single big picture of MC with areas that the user can click on to bring up a larger shot is a great way to let the user get a feel for how it works without downloading and installing it first. This is something I usually love on shareware I'm checking out.
The page looks nice though :) Good Job!

It is built in. It doesn't have a web crawler like the slide-show plug-in but I think everything else is there.
-
Cool,
Where?? I thought I had to pay for it. How'd I use it/get it whatever :)
-
In the Instructions thread here, there is a link to image playback instructions. It should help.
You can start playing images, as you would start playing audio tracks. Right click on the display to configure.
-
Nope, it would only be a bargain at $39.97 ;D
-
YES ,it is a bargain.
I do not know if you toke notice how people tend to overprice they programs.
You see small and very limited programs asking for tons of $$$$$$$$$$.
Here you get a TOTAL MONSTER for less than $40.
Now ,i do think you have to put out another bargain: a MJ 9 at $ 20-25
-
Une belle affaire ! :)

-
I agree with Z10
A MJ with all the image stuff removed and ASIO with Multi-Zone.
I'd pay for that.
Also some more advanced form of remote control
Yeh i'd pay for that.
By the way.
A bargain "Is something that you wanted and then bought cheap"
I didnt want MJ/MC but once i had it i found out i couldnt live without it. So its not a bargain - Its not something i want - ITS SOMETHING I NEED.
-
MC is now $39.98 and still a bargain, right?
Right! :o
-
Great product, most definatly a bargin. Thanks to the JRiver crew for all of your hard work and your willingness to work with your customers.

It is a good bargin, it would be a great bargin if you solved this problem so that I would not have to walk to the library in the middle of winter in Grand Forks North Dakota.

(although student pricing would not be a bad idea.)

I'm one of those people who bought Media Jukebox LATER than the deadline for the free upgrade to Media Center. I bought Media Jukebox at the time when it still supported video files. Now that functionality has been removed and if I want it I have to buy Media Center.
Shouldn't there be (is there?) an upgrade price from MJ to MC for people like me? I'm not asking for free, just a discounted price for having already paid for MJ as a "plays all" media player and having had that promise renegged on.
Don't get me wrong, I like Media Jukebox - but it seems I'm now missing functionality and am being asked to pay a full license fee for Media Center to get it back again. :)
-
There is an upgrade price. Try the purchase option in MC/Help.
